Wine tasting in Lagos — natural wine, guided pour by pour.
MAD ! LAGOS is a natural wine shop and bar on a side street of the old town. We run two kinds of tasting: a walk-in flight of four wines at the bar, and private sessions where the room belongs to your group. Both are informal, unhurried, and built around the wines rather than the ceremony.
Two ways to taste
The Flight Tasting
Walk-in, at the bar · €25 / guest · 45–60 minutes
Four wines, four tasting pours — one journey through Portuguese regions. Each glass comes with its full picture: the sub-region, the soil, the climate, the grape that belongs there. Informal, interactive, and timed to the last drop. Walk-ins welcome; booking ahead guarantees a guided session.
The Deep Dive — private tasting
By appointment, 2–10 guests · From €30 / guest · About 90 minutes
The room is yours. A curated session built around your group's knowledge and curiosity: the history of the region, what the appellation protects and why, and the changes that reshaped Portuguese wine in the 1990s. Sessions run Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 17:00, before we open.
What a tasting in Lagos looks like
You sit down, we pour. Each wine comes with its context — where it grew, who farmed it, what the vintage did to it. Every bottle we open is organically farmed and fermented with the wild yeasts that came in on the skins: no lab strains, no fining, no industrial filtration, little to no sulphites at bottling. Most of what we pour is hard to find elsewhere in the Algarve.
Expect Portugal first — Vinho Verde, Bairrada, Dão, Planalto Mirandês, the south-west coast — with detours through the Loire, Jura, Galicia and Jerez. Alongside the glasses we serve sourdough with olive oil, aged hard cheeses, olives and empadas. Every bottle on the list can go home with you at its retail price.

Wine tasting questions
How much is a wine tasting in Lagos at MAD ! LAGOS?
The walk-in Flight Tasting is €25 per guest for four wines. Private tastings start at €30 per guest for groups of 8–10 and go up to €50 per guest for a pair — the smaller the group, the more personal the session.
Do I need to book a wine tasting in advance?
Walk-ins are welcome for the Flight Tasting whenever we're open. Private tastings need at least 48 hours' notice and run Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 17:00.
Do I need to know anything about wine?
No. People who didn't grow up around wine often get the most out of it — no preconceptions, no checklist, just the capacity to be surprised.
What wines will I taste?
Natural, organically farmed wines — mostly Portuguese, with detours through the Loire, Jura, Galicia and Jerez. Wild yeasts, no fining, no industrial filtration, little to no added sulphites.
